Hi! Cheers to all the people who do what they do at the Gabriel Foundation!! What an awesome ministry to such noble creatures!
I have an amazon and a conure and am recovering from a divorce. Is there anyone out there with tips and encouragement on giving our birds all they deserve when we ourselves are going thru hard times? Maybe we can help each other make their lives happier. How do you get off the couch?
Get off the couch and take your birds for a drive. I am going through the same thing and I found the more time I want to spend alone the worse it gets, so I do something with my birds. I take the to the park, sit outside, and go for a drive they love it, and it works on me too!
I take my Sun Conure for a drive all the time, she loves it. So do the people manning the drive up window at Little Anita’s where I go for breakfast burritos.
My cockatoo is pretty tuned into my feelings and behaviors. He knows when I am down. Then I turn to him and his parakeet buddy and wonder what can I do for them today. Getting involved in creating ways for him to forage and climb around his cage keeps my mind off of my mood. He is a real clown and makes me laugh all the time. He has been a great companion. I only hope I give back to him just as much.
